Book Title: SUCCESSFUL SHORE FISHING
Author: ANTHONY PEARSON
Publisher: NEWNES
ISBN: UNKNOWN
Published in 1967, this is now something of a sought after book. Part one of the book which covers tackle, bait etc is now obviously dated but still readable. It is parts two and three that are the enjoyable read.
Parts two and three cover Cod fishing on the East coast and Bass fishing in Wales and Ireland. The authors trips are written up in a detailed way ( some of the catches are quite unbelievable ?!) here's a couple of lines to give an example of how it is written == 'The rod tip jagged once then ducked heavily twice before I could snatch it from the rest. I struck hard and backed up the shingle, striking again to make sure the hook was well into the fish' On a long winters night this is THE book to put your feet up with in front of a good fire and just imagine you are on the beach amongst all those big cod (of yesteryear!)
A very recommended read, if you can find a copy!
Keep 'em coming Paul, another top review. I think Tony Pearson was a "Hully Gully", still being a Grimsby "cod head" I won't hold it against him! I have a book written by him in the Angling Times series "North Wales and Anglesey", like all in that series, top info.
